Operation Christmas Child is just another time we see the generosity of our people at Summit Ridge Community Church. We were able to take about 40 filled boxes to the shipping center to be shipped out and there were also several of you who had purchased your boxes online through Samaritan’s Purse!
Our boxes should now be in one of the processing centers and being prepared to send to various countries outside the United State or to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. The delivery of some gifts is sometimes delayed due to international shipping or they may not clear customs in receiving countries until spring. In addition, many countries that receive the gifts must transport the gifts to rural areas using very poor roads. Distributions typically occur from late December through spring each year, extending the joy of Christmas to children that receive them!
We have had one family take some empty boxes so that each they can begin filling a box and have several done by November of 2021 to donate. I’ve decided to take up this challenge and would ask you to pray about doing this as well. If storage is a problem, we can always help with that! The website for Samaritan’s Purse has several articles and ideas surrounding packing boxes each month and I will be sending out information each month with ideas! Anyone else want to take on this challenge with us? In 2020 we filled 40 boxes, maybe in 2021 we could fill…100? 250? 400? I’m in, what about you?
One other way we can continue to support the children and families receiving these boxes is through prayer. Many of these children live in poverty or in areas that are involved in wars, but all are in need. Most importantly, each child is in need of knowing Jesus.
Thank you again Summit Ridge for Serving Christ by Serving People!
